Health Policy Learning Objectives
Goals:
My learning goals for this course are to; understand and define the purpose of health policy, become familiar with current federal and provincial health policies for RPN’s, and to differentiate between the benefits and limitations of policies in order to advocate for my patient
How they were met:
I believe my learning goals were reached this semester through utilizing the textbook, participating in online postings and discussions and identifying a basic understanding of the format of Health Policy in Canada. Upon completion of this course I was able to identify current mental health policies and how they affect me and my patients, and I have a better understanding of how policies are formed and how to advocate for my patients. Writing the essay on Tasers and how over used they are on psychiatric patients gave me an idea of how to write a policy brief and how to advocate for my patients to the appropriate people.
