Introduction to Psychology Learning Objectives
Goals:
My learning goals for this course are to further my knowledge and understanding of the human mind and cognitive process. To learn about the past present and future of psychology, how it started, how it’s improved and what studies are being applied to continual exploration and understanding of the mind. I also want to learn about the mind-body connection and how mental health affects a person physically and vice versa.
How they were met:
I believe my learning goals were reached this semester through utilizing the textbook, participating in online postings and discussions reviewing the history and development of biological and cognitive processes of the brain and their relationship to human behavior. I found the essay on nurture versus nature compelling and feel I developed a stronger understanding of how different factors can affect our behavior. This course also taught me the stages of human development and the basic concepts of psychology such as perception, consciousness, sensation learning, memory conditioning, thought, personality, conditioning and motivation and how they can be applied to psychiatric nursing practice.
