Pharmacology Learning Objectives
Goals:
My learning goals for this course are to get a good grasp on the medications we give, how we give them and their effects, side effects and drug interactions, as well as other medications our patients may be taking. Dosages and calculations are also important to understand and know how to do properly. I’ve taken a pharmacology course before but had a hard time getting through the readings and material as it can be very dry, I’m hoping to find different study techniques and ideas to help not just get through this course but to enjoy and understand it.
How they were met:
I believe I met most of my learning goals from the beginning of the course. Between the online portion and giving medications to residents during our clinical shifts I feel like I have a better grasp of how medications can be given and the different forms and dosages. There was a lot of reading in this course but I worked out a pretty good system with highlighters to help break it down and get a good understanding on what I was reading. The drip factor and dosage formula are the same ones I use now as a paramedic so the math for meds exam was nice and easy. Learning about the different medications for different symptoms and having us each research medications and list their side effects, interactions etc. was a great learning tool.
