Medical Surgical Nursing Theory Learning Goals
Goals:
My goals for this course include recognizing and treating acute medical conditions and surgical care of patients within my scope of practice, expanding my pharmaceutical knowledge to include commonly used medications and interventions for specific situations, and to develop problem solving techniques, understand my role as a nurse, prioritize the needs of patients and implement my theory knowledge into my clinical practice.
How they were met:
I believe my learning goals were reached this semester through utilizing the textbook, participating in online postings and discussions and identifying how my previous courses in physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, health assessment and nursing theory tie into the planning of nursing management. Upon completion of this course I was able to describe the nature of acute medical/surgical nursing practice, describe the symptomology of different clinical problems that I may encountered in acute settings with clients of all ages, and discuss health promotion strategies that are relevant to an individual client’s health status, developmental stage and personal context.
